On the way to Kazbegi our first stop is Ananuri. Ananuri is a castle complex on the Aragvi
Riverin Georgia, about 45 miles from Tbilisi. The place is exiting with its Ensamble. There one
can find secular military and cult buildings. The ensamble consists of a citadel and a lower fortress. The
main architectural building is a big domed cathedral built in 1689.
Next destination is Gudauri - the most popular ski resort in Georgia. 120 km from Tbilisi, at the
height of 2,196 m (about 7,200 feet) near the Cross Pass. You can ski here in winter and enjoy
with a fresh air and views in summer.
Kazbegi National Park is located on the northern slopes of the mighty Caucasus range, and its
protected area covers a total of over 8,700 hectares. At 5,047 metres above sea level, Kazbegi
Mountain (or Mkinvartsveri) is the third highest mountain in Georgia, and is surrounded by
myths and religious tradition.
